Just a few days after we got our hands on photos of the new 2012 CR-V and 2012 Pilot, Honda revealed the first official picture of the 2012 Ridgeline Sport pickup – the newest member of the Honda Ridgeline family.

As you can see from the photo, the 2012 Ridgeline Sport still maintains the Ridgeline’s unique design but makes a bolder statement with cleaner lines and exclusive blacked-out accents.

The 2012 Ridgeline Sport adds the following exclusive features to the base Ridgeline standard offerings:

• Black 18-inch allow wheels
• Black honeycomb grille
• Black headlight and brake light housings
• Black side mirrors and door handles
• Fog lights

Edmunds.com just released its annual “Lowest True Cost to Own”(TCO) awards for model year 2011 vehicles, and Honda blew away the competition by earning awards in five different categories. The TCO awards are given to the top models in the Sedan, Wagon, Coupe, Convertible, Truck, SUV, Minivan/Van and Hybrid categories that have the lowest cost of ownership over a five-year period.

Among the winners of the 2011 Lowest True Cost to Own awards were the Honda Accord Sedan and Coupe, Ridgeline Truck, Pilot SUV and Civic Hybrid. Honda’s luxury arm, Acura, also made the list of winners with the Acura MDX Crossover.

Edmunds.com’s True Cost To Own (TCO) awards are designed to help car buyers easily compare the total five-year cost of buying and owning a vehicle – including some items buyers may not normally take into consideration. These factors include depreciation, interest on financing, taxes and fees, insurance premiums, fuel, maintenance, repairs and any federal tax credit that may be available.

The results? The 2011 Honda Civic beat out all of the competitors, coming in just behind the 2011 Hyundai Elantra, which nabbed the first spot.

Motor Trend’s Best-Selling Compact Sedan Comparison
Motor Trend picked the top best-selling models in each of the eight automakers’ compact car segments and pitted them against each other in terms of value, efficiency, ride comfort, and styling. The heavyweight competitors included the Honda Civic, Hyundai Elantra, Chevrolet Cruze, Ford Focus, VW Jetta, Kia Forte, Toyota Corolla and Mazda3.

The 2011 Honda Civic beat out six of its competitors. It stood out from its peers in several key areas, including having “cavernous and comfortable” back seats, and having the second-best fuel economy at 29.4 mpg. As far as performance, one Motor Trend writer said the Civic “feels light on its feet and perhaps the most nimble of the group.”

Okotoks Honda is excited to announce that the new 2012 Pilot will arrive at our South Calgary, Southern Alberta Honda dealership this September.

The 2012 Honda Pilot will receive numerous improvements over the 2011 Pilot, including upscale styling, improved fuel economy, enhanced interior features and, as always, standard seating for eight.

The first big change people will notice is the revised front fascia, which ditches the bulky thick-chrome grill of previous generations in favor of a more demure three-bar grille. The other big update is a new six-speed transmission, which Honda believes will give the 2012 Pilot the highest EPA-estimated mileage of any three-row crossover. Drivers will appreciate the expanded capabilities of the available navigation system, while passengers will enjoy the powerful audio systems.

The 2012 Honda Pilot release date has not yet been announced, but we’re told it will reach our Okotoks Honda dealership sometime this September. Buyers will be able to choose from new colors and wheel options not currently available for the 2011 Honda Pilot.

2011 CR-Z Review: Body Styles & Options
The 2011 CR-Z is a sporty hybrid that combines sharp looks and quick steering into one fun-to-drive package. The two-seater CR-Z comes in three trim levels: base, EX and EX with navigation. The base CR-Z comes standard with 16-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights, automatic climate control, full power accessories, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, cruise control and a six-speaker CD audio system (with steering-wheel controls and USB/auxiliary audio jacks), and more. The EX adds xenon headlights, foglights, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated side mirrors, metallic interior trim, Bluetooth and a seven-speaker premium audio system. The EX can also be equipped with a voice-activated navigation system. Notable dealer-installed features include 17-inch wheels, performance tires and satellite radio.

2011 CR-Z Review: Performance
At 35 mpg in the city and 39 mpg on the highway (37 combined), the CR-Z makes a slight trade in fuel economy for performance compared to other hybrids. The CR-Z is the only hybrid available with a six-speed manual transmission, which comes standard. It also adds the option of using a CVT with paddle shifters, which enhances the sporty feel. Power from the hybrid powertrain is ample with an extra boost of torque delivered from the electric motor.
